Wrenglade Counselling

Even though our journeys in life and struggles differ from one another, my life experience and training helps me to come from a place of empathy, care, and understanding that life is challenging and that we are all striving for a sense of wholeness and wellbeing. My practice uses a person-centered and strengths-based approach and it would be my pleasure to walk beside you and support you as you navigate through life’s difficult times and complexities.

What to expect in Counselling

We all experience challenges in life and there may be times when we are having difficulty managing these issues. During times like these it may be helpful to seek support and strategies from a professional Counsellor.

A counsellor is a trained, objective professional with whom you can build a healing and trusting relationship. They are trained to offer different types of assistance. At Wrenglade Counselling a variety of talking therapies as well as art therapy is offered.

A counsellor helps you to address your problems in a positive way by clarifying issues, exploring options, developing strategies and gaining a deeper sense of self. Some people find that just the process of telling their story to a counsellor and being listened to helps them.

A counsellor provides confidential support for you, which means everything you discuss remains between you and them. The exception is when a counsellor has a duty of care to report something that threatens your or someone else's wellbeing.

Everyone who is dealing with a personal issue can seek counseling. No matter how big or how small the challenge, there is support for everyone.

What to expect

Carl Gustav Jung

"When the other person is hurting, confused, troubled, anxious, alienated, terrified; or when he or she is doubtful of self-worth, uncertain as to identity, then understanding is called for. The gentle and sensitive companionship of an empathic stance… provides illumination and healing. In such situations deep understanding is, I believe, the most precious gift one can give to another."

About Me

I'm Colleen Bohonis at Wrenglade Counselling, a licensed Psychotherapist registered with Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) and based in Adelaide CBD. My goal is to guide you through life’s most complex and difficult matters. I truly care about my clients’ well-being and aim to provide excellent counselling and psychological services catered to their needs.

I have over 20 years of lived experience with two children on the autism spectrum and other complex health issues including childhood cancer. Some other weighty life experiences include childhood adversity, widowhood at age 26 following the loss of my 1st husband to cancer, being a single parent, migrating from the US to Australia, becoming a blended family, and living with Type 1 diabetes. These life experiences, paired with my training in Counselling and Psychotherapy help me to understand and empathise with the space you find yourself in.

At Wrenglade Counselling, you will find a safe and confidential environment  in which you will be seen, heard, valued, and supported as you work through your challenges, heal, and reach your maximum potential. Family Therapy

At Wrenglade Counselling we hold a consideration for diverse family structures, cultures, and belief systems. Every family member is seen, heard, and valued and encouraged to share their experience and point of view on difficult issues, and resolve conflicts.

Some typical family goals might be to improve communication, gain a better understanding of a family situation, or to adjust and feel supported in a new home environment.

We look at your family dynamics and together come up with ways of engaging that help to build healthier family interactions.
